Winifred Carryl Harris has contributed many Kingsland family items to the Kingsland Manor. For example, she contributed a taffeta gown that was worn by Martha Kingsland.

Winifred Carryl was born in 1928 and is the only daughter of Frederick Kingsland Carryl (1880 – 1963) and Irene Winifred Nutt (1892 – 1985). Frederick was the son of Nathan Frederick Carryl (1855 – 1906) and Martha A. Kingsland (1851 – 1929). Martha was one of the last Kingslands born and raised in Kingsland Manor. Her father was Joseph Kingsland III (1813 – 1899), and her mother was Margaret Mary Stuart (1825 – 1910).

In January 1990, Winifred donated the following items that can be viewed in display cases upstairs:

• 3 pairs of shoes

• 3 purses (one mesh)

• 2 hatpins

• shoe buttoner (shoes had buttons then)

• gun cleaner

• ornate handle for eyeglasses

Also donated in 1990 were two pairs of skates. The skates are a clamp-on type. They “clamp” onto a pair of shoes. There are two styles: a pair that look like they could be figure-style skates and another pair that look like they could be hockey-style skates. Winifred’s father, Frederick, had a sister, Margaret (Margery) Mallary Carryl (1882 – 1970). We believe that the skates were owned and used by Frederick and Margery. Freddie probably wore the hockey-style pair and Margery wore the figure-style pair. They can be found in the Child’s Bedroom.
