Grant from the Preserve New Jersey Historic Preservation Fund

As was reported in a previous news post, we re-shingled the two side roofs and porch roofs on the Kingsland Manor during the summer. Luckily, the work was completed before we experienced the devastating rains that caused damage to many homes in the area. To offset the expense, we applied for a grant to help finance the work.

On October 4th, we were notified that this project was funded in part by a matching grant from the Preserve New Jersey Historic Preservation Fund, which is administered by the New Jersey Historic Trust, State of New Jersey.

It is with great appreciation that we thank everyone who contributed to our success in obtaining this grant. Specifically, we thank the following:

  • Mayor Mauro Tucci, Frank DeMaio, and Anthony Gagliano of the Parks and Public Buildings Department for their guidance and support.

  • Joseph Haines, of Dassa Haines Architectural Group LLC, who offered architectural assistance.

  • Barry Kozyra, who volunteered legal assistance.

  • Margaret Farabaugh, our Treasurer, for her financial and contractual wisdom.

  • Leon Kish, our President, for the countless hours he spent navigating the grant application process and preparing the application.

  • Haley McAlpine, Senior Historic Preservation Specialist New Jersey Historic Trust, for her direction during the grant application period.

  • Franklin Morocho of Quality Contracting Group LLC, our roofing contractor, who understood our needs and executed the project brilliantly.

And last but not least, thanks to the Kingsland Manor community who has supported our events, increased our membership, and donated both time and money to our efforts to preserve this historic site. You all share in our success.
