In 1984, Ada Hanrahan, one of the eight original founding members of the Historic Restoration Trust of Nutley, donated items currently on display in our Summer Kitchen. The Trust was incorporated in June 1975 with eight original members. This board of Directors was made up of Frank Cocchiola, Ken Sutphen (president), George G. Korkala (vice president), Douglas J. Eisenfelder (recording secretary), Ada Hanrahan, Joan Searle, Dorothy L. Greengrove, and Irwin Brill.

Ada was a longtime member of the Trust who lived in Nutley for most of her adult life. She died in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in May 2012 at the age of 88. She was married to Daniel Joseph Hanrahan. Daniel died in April 2006 at the age of 92. Daniel was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Ada and Daniel had five children. At the time of the donation, they were living on Lakeside Drive in Nutley.

The description of the items when it was received by the Trust in January 1984 was: Black iron pot; 4-1/8” deep; 9” across; handle. And: oil can painted black; 7-3/4” high; 6-1/4” across; spout; handle is wire with wood piece for clutching.
